Welcome to REACH – The yesHEis Blog

REACH blog

To everyone who has stumbled in here, whether by design or by chance,

Welcome to REACH, the yesHEis blog.

In early 2011, we set yesHEis.com loose to the insanity of the internet and have since added over half a dozen languages and seen Christians all over the world seize the opportunities that online Social Networks have for sharing the truth of Jesus.

Think about it! When in history has the average person had so accessible the tools needed to share their thoughts with so many people at once with such little effort? Whether you post, tweet, share, blog, stumble or tumbl, if you have a point to make, the web delivers a very convenient soap box to stand upon. Even 50 years ago, for a person to deliver a message to an audience larger than the Friday night regulars at the local required media influence or a back-pocket well beyond that of 99.99% of the population.

Enter the 21st century. As clichéd as that sounds, when the historical clock ticked over to the new millennium, so it seems the power of mass communication abandoned the hands of the rich and powerful and land smack-bang in the laps of the rest of us.

According to Facebook’s stats page, the average number of friends of any individual is 130. And that includes all those accounts that have been left untouched since their inception. This means that if you regularly, even if only occasionally, log on to the world’s biggest Social Network you more than likely have upwards of 200 individuals whom with you can connect with but a few key strokes and a deft left-click of the mouse.

And then you begin to consider the ever-expanding number of other Social Networks such as Twitter, MySpace, Google+, LinkedIn, Orkut, bebo… Our reach really has grown enormously.

This reach, potential, opportunity, or however you see it, begs the question of every Christian: “Is this technology a God-given tool to help share the gospel?”
A brief look at history and the spread of the Good News shows us that Christians, albeit sometimes a little slower than other groups, have embraced new technologies to further the Kingdom. The apostles simply adopted the practice of speaking in public, the social media of the day, to spread the Good News. Paul wrote letters to the churches spread throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East. In 1455 Johann Gutenburg revolutionised the distribution of the Word with the introduction of moveable type printing. The 19th century gave birth to radio, the 20th to television, and now we find ourselves faced with history’s latest foray into communication revolution, the internet.

And this is where yesHEis, and consequently REACH, come in. To successfully leverage off the internet and all its social communicating opportunities, Christians need to be 1. Educated, and 2. Resourced. YesHEis simply exists to provide Christians with these exact two things. At yesHEis.com you can find a huge variety of quality content that can be shared with your friends across your Social Networks. This sharing can help initiate or lead towards those amazing conversations that can point someone towards the hope of the Cross. And here at REACH we are going to take this one step further. REACH is the foundation of our engagement with Christians around the world who are making the most of this opportunity. Here we will discover, review and discuss some of the best content available on the internet and how we can use it to share the truth with the world. We will talk to the best in the industry of video production to discover their vision and inspiration for their work. We’ll keep tabs on all the major developments in the Social Media industry so you can be sure that you are making the most of the tools that are available. As well as this and keeping up to date with the development and growth of yesHEis, you can be sure to find rich articles from various authors on topics related to the interests of the yesHEis community.

Our hope is that our journey into Social Media and its power to build the Kingdom of God will both inspire you and equip you to go and do the same.

Welcome to REACH, and make yourself at home.
