This is what The Great Commission, and the calling of every Christian, is about: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation…” (Mark 16)
The important part here is “Go”, a daily command to genuinely connect, through love, with the people in your world. And you can follow it right where you are. In fact, some translations of the Bible use the phrase “as you go into the world”. You could think of it like “as you go to the shops…”, “as you go to school…”, “as you go to work…”
“Connecting” isn’t about ‘converting’ people. Instead, it’s about being filled with the Holy Spirit and bringing the presence of God with you everywhere you go. This is your purpose and your calling as a Christian and sometimes can be as simple as smiling and saying “hi”, hanging out, and being real.
Be filled with the spirit and bring the presence of God and the ‘fruit of the Spirit’ everywhere you go – practice love, being joyful, practice peace, be patient, kind and self-controlled.
When you’re filled with the Spirit through prayer, and connected well to the people around you, you’ll be amazed at what opportunities arise.
Then he told them, “As you go into all the world, proclaim the gospel to everyone.”
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.
