Respond: Be a messenger

Ang pagbabahagi kay Jesus ay nangangahulugan lamang ng pagtugon sa prompting ng Holy Spirit at pagsama sa Kanya sa gawaing ginagawa na niya.

When you’re filled with the Holy Spirit through prayer, and establishing meaningful connections with non-Christians, mas makikita mo yung opportunities para makapag-share ng gospel

Tatanungin ka kung bakit ka naiiba sa kanila o ang conversations ay mapupunta sa topics about spirituality and faith. You’ll see someone that needs help or the Holy Spirit will prompt you to do or say something. It could be anything; you just need to be ready to respond.

Hindi mo kailangan mag-judge, convince, or defend. Ikaw ay isang witness. A witness is a person who sees an event take place and/or has knowledge of something from observation or experience. Ang kailangan mong gawin ay magbigay ng testimony nang iyong nakita at narinig. Don’t underestimate the power of this.

When Peter and John were called to account before the Sanhedrin, the simple witness of their words and actions had power: “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13).

When you respond to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, you’re not alone. He’s right there to help and guide us, and give us the right words to say.

Jesus encourages us in John 14:26>: “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you”

The book of Acts in the Bible provides a powerful example of responding to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Philip, guided by the Spirit, approaches a chariot and listens attentively. He discerns that the person is reading from the Scriptures and seizes the opportunity to engage in conversation by asking, "Do you understand what you are reading?" (Acts 8:26-40). This remarkable story serves as a reminder that the Holy Spirit's work transcends time and remains relevant to us today.

Here are three practical steps and three tools that will help you navigate these opportunities:

  1. Pray: Ask God daily for opportunities to talk about Him with confidence and wisdom. Open yourself up to the leading of the Holy Spirit by growing a deep personal relationship with Jesus.
  2. Listen: Hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit is vital. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). Seek to get familiar with His voice every day and spend time in His presence. As you cultivate deeper relationships with people, listen for his voice during those interactions and His voice will become clearer.
  3. Act: When the Holy Spirit prompts you to take action, be bold and take action. Whether it's sharing a word of encouragement, offering to pray for someone, or initiating a conversation about faith. Take a leap of faith and respond when you are prompted by the Holy Spirit.

Cultivate your relationship with Jesus, learn to hear His voice and be bold to take action when you feel his prompting. Essential ang pag-respond sa leading ng Holy Spirit sa pagbabahagi ng gospel sa ating everyday life, as together, we’re helping the world know Jesus.

Tandaan

You’re not the judge, the prosecutor, or the defence attorney. You’re a witness.

Pray, listen and act.

Invite the Holy Spirit into every part of sharing Jesus.

Next Steps

  1. Ask God for opportunities to share Jesus with people.
  2. Practice saying ‘yes’ to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Be ready to pray with someone, tell your story, explain the gospel, or to invite people to church.
  3. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal how he is working in the people you know and meet, and how you can be part of it.
  4. Read a good book on community: The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard, Keep in Step with the Spirit by J I Packer.
  5. Read the story of Philip the evangelist in Acts 8.
